Paralysis

As this is the first post that Mr. Shayne Clarke (a.k.a. Name Nazi) will read, I want to make it really "cool." Why? Well to make a good first impression, be socially acceptable, fit in, conform to the norm, blah blah blah...

[To those not so clued in, Mr. Shayne Clarke is the instructor for my Business Communication class. Part of our grade is to blog once a week for the semester.]

I heard an interesting thing the other day--that I'm not quite my normal self in this blog. I'm a little bit different.

This brought up some interesting thoughts: Am I suppressing my true inner self? Do I have some hidden alter-ego that can only be released through blogging? Do I suffer from split-personality disorder? Should I destroy one personality?

Yes, all very interesting thoughts...

But I actually think this is true. [Now an in-depth look into my personality...] I am much more reserved in real life. When I'm around people I don't know, I am careful, cautious. And since I am virtually the only one who reads this, I feel no need to hold back.

Which is why this new assignment could have a major effect on my blog writing--mainly because there's a new audience. Before, my audience was essentially myself, a few family members, and occasional friends. Now my audience expands to include my teacher and peers. So my natural reaction is to tone things down.

This is restricting. I am very self-conscious of what everyone will think of this blog. However, my goal will be to not let this affect my writing. I am simply going to NOT CARE. So if I offend, I'm not really sorry. If you think I sound weird, that's fine. I'm not caring.

Now for a funny picture that really has nothing to do with the above topic:

Drama Yo Mamma

I thought drama was one of those things you left behind
once you graduated high school.

But apparently, it doesn't end there. In fact, now I think there will always be some drama everywhere, no matter what stage of life. And you know what, it's crappy. Who ever made up the phrase "drama" to describe those messy, sticky, social situations?

Well I hate it. And I want nothing to do with it anymore. Be gone!

I wish it was like that.

I think this is sweet.

Not the actual Quaker Oats ad, but the slogan "Go humans go." Finally, someone rooting for the whole human race! Not just the blonds, the nerds, the Americans, the rich, the hicks, the teens, the gays, etc.

It's high time we realize this: that we are all part of the same species--no matter what we believe, how we act, what we wear, how much money we have, or where we live. So why do we feel the need to put one status above another? After all, we're all HUMANS!

Aren't these annoying?

I don't get why we have them. But apparently, they do have a point.

So they are technically called CAPTCHAs. That stands for "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart." They are used for security verification with the idea that humans can read them and pass the test but computers can't. Interesting! But still annoying.

Moving: Forcing the Social Experience

Yes, I moved out this week. Monday, in fact. I moved to King Henry Apartments in Provo. And yes, I think it will force be to become more "social."

In fact, all I ever hear about King Henry is that it is so SOCIAL! Or, everyone there is so SOCIAL! Whatever that means.

Word: Social
Function: Adjective
Definition: Tending to form cooperative and interdependent relationships with others of one's kind.
Translation: "A place to get married in a hurry," according to a review.

Well, whatever the case is, I'm determined to make it enjoyable, and possibly form cooperative and interdependent relationships with my kind. But maybe just the first.
